Data Interchange for Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (DIGGS) was built for us. Computer technology advancement in our daily work and play life has shown us the value of ready access to data. Geotechnical data is just as important, and we now have a way to share it in an open format for use across the suite of applications we use every day, not just the ones that create PDF logs. Think about the power of easily using this data in all of our analysis tools, including the BIM model or long-term asset management tools.

This presentation provides a brief overview of what DIGGS is and is not. It discusses some examples of what is already being done with DIGGS-formatted data and explores questions like: What will this cost? Who owns the data? Why would I ever want to share my data?
